Wekfest Seattle 2023 Part 2

I heard some talk not long ago about Wekfest giving out awards to pretty much the same people every year. Honestly, it’s just immature salty kids complaining that aren’t able to execute their builds. You got all of these OG heavy hitters that have been in the game for quite some time. From my perspective, I’m sure these guys can care less about winning a trophy. If anything it’s just a bonus for them. They come out to support and truly care about their passion for cars & the community, which is why I continue to highlight them. If you only show out just to try to win awards, then it seems like you don’t genuinely have a passion for the automotive industry. It’s a lifestyle for us to enjoy. Although I can’t speak for everyone since certain people want to win and be happy their own ways. Oh well it is what it is…
Back to the show. Great layout and not too hectic compared to last year. Enjoyed catching up with the homies and making new ones as always. Mostly good vibes all around, which is why I look forward to this event year. Enjoy the second part of my coverage!

Huy’s Mugen RSX will always be a local favorite. It pretty much has everything you’d want in a DC5. He showed out right at the entrance for the spectators to check out first. Huy managed to score First Place ‘Best of Show’. Congrats homie! Well deserved.

What’s not to love about Jackie’s S2000? The Voltex bumper paired with Circuit Garage canards make this car pop, and the J’s Racing GT wing with the Voltex rear diffuser make a good balance with the flow of the body. What really makes Jackie unique in my opinion? He’s man enough to run aggressive spec wheels without running over fenders or crazy aftermarket ones. Jackie used to roll on some nardo grey 18x10 +40 TE37s for a while, but switched up to this bronze +41 set. At the end of the show, I did catch him doing some minor rolling or something to his rear wheel wells, maybe because of some minor rubbing? I guess that +1 mm makes a difference right Jackie? That’s what she said 😏

The S2K is powered with a F22C1 running a Sheepey Built turbo system. I like all the finished add ons like the ARC spark plug cover plate and Renegade Motorsports Ti cooling plate. Everyone’s favorite judge, Tony Dau, pointed out that Jackie’s crew ‘LEVEL ONE’ is similar to the rust he has on his turbo 🤣 All jokes aside, this car is fire and he managed to take home the ‘Best Coupe of the Festival’ award. Congrats Jackie! Hopefully the next time I see you will be in Canada!

Bill Master’s boosted EP3 equipped with many Mugen goodies and CE28s.

Jeremiah Whitaker’s Datsun 510 looking clean as always. He switched up the Watanabes and ran some OG SSR XR4 wheels.

Dru Vun’s ‘86 4Runner was flexxin’ hard on the boulder he brought in. He used to have a very dope TRD JZX100 Chaser that he used to cruise around in, but for some reason I feel like this suits him more lol. Dru took home the ‘Offroad of the Festival’ award!

Two years in a row that Jeremiah Whipple got prime parking. Even though he didn’t do many changes, it’s still a great build!

The White Center homies know how to build proper Hondas, just like the big dawg Pow Prinpasert. Twincam Motoring… IYKYK

Random fact: Terry was the reason I’ve always wanted a JDM front Integra when I was a kid. From checking it out in person at the old Honda Tech meets at Marymoor Park, or flipping through the pages of Honda Tuning, it was always one of my favorites & inspirations. I definitely miss the huge Racing Hart C2 wheels he used to roll tough on, but these silver MF10s are very proper as well.

Terry popped every opening to flex all the details, even the gas tank door to show the shiny Mugen fuel cap cover.

Another random fact: Terry was also the reason I was a fan of engines with individual throttle bodies. Him and Yee Vang with the K-swapped ITB EK hatch definitely set the bar back in the day with their dope builds. A lot of refine details in Terry’s engine bay that includes placements of certain components most wouldn’t do, which make his car stand out in many ways. The hometown hero killed it and won 2nd place ‘Best of Show’!

The man, the myth, the legend Joey Lee hard at work.

Yifan’s RX-7 FD was definitely one of the Top 5 builds that showed out at this year’s WF Seattle show. Super clean body added with Ganador mirrors, and the full Project Mu brake set-up tucked behind the OG Desmond Regamaster Marquis Promada wheels make this car go super hard!

The ITB 13B rotary engine inside the pristine & shaved bay was the star of the show. Something most aren’t capable of doing. So fire!

Jackie’s Spoon Sports equipped DC2 Integra Type R. I was teasing him about adding an EK to his fleet since we both want one, but he would need to finish this first. Hurry up JKL!!!

Another cool car that came down was Jason Leung’s ‘86 Corolla from Richmond B.C. The overall simplicity and cool details made this car a favorite of mine involving the red tinted carbon fiber hood that flow so well with all the red accents of the interior and engine bay. Jason succeeded and took up the ‘80’s of the Festival’ award.

Very neat Toda Racing 4AG with individual throttle bodies.

Not many people noticed the Spoon brakes behind the TE37VSLs. Very neat!

There are some people out there that can’t pull off a mix of Mugen and Spoon parts on their cars, but I can say Jason was able to execute that very well.

VIP inspired JZX100 Chaser on Carving Head 40 wheels.

Salvador Estrada was one of the few east side homies that made the trek for the show. His boosted S2K rocking a Backyard special lip, JDM AP1 headlights, and bronze TE37s is quite exceptional.

Carlos Garcia is a pro at paint corrections, and his black EG3 was smooth. The Sergeant front bumper with the First Molding lip will always turn heads. He switched up the RE30s and rare yellow seats to some OG TE37s and Recaro buckets.

It’s been a back-to-back weekend in Seattle for the homie Raul Rodriguez with his fuego EK4. He pulled up the previous Sunday to our EKs & Coffee meet. It was great seeing him again and chatting up for a bit. Unfortunately Raul decided that his car will be up for sale soon, so for those who got the cash ready I wouldn’t sleep on this amazing build!

Jesus Aguilar came out pretty tough this year with a slight change to his EK hatch. He picked up the super rare Rando Sports aero kit from Raul and slapped it on his car in time for the show. Apparently this is the same exact kit that was on the OG EK Squad leader’s, Chris Saikai, hatch many years ago. Very cool indeed.

Chris Rafanan’s S2000 will forever be my favorite S2K. Everything is just perfect!

Bronze can pretty much go with anything.

This shouldn’t need an intro. Just know that the World’s fastest AWD 4 banger from SpeedFactory Racing will continue to break records. Shoutout to Rick Eickert and the rest of the SF team for busting their ass on & off the track.

This is the first time I’ve seen Ernie Naiberg’s sick EG that he gets down on the track up here in WA and even Hawaii. 8.43 @ 158 mph is pretty damn wild. He took home ‘Best Track Car’. Congrats braddah! 🤙🏼

Devin McPherson’s super clean E30 325is bagged on BBS RS.

Jude Dacula’s MR2 W10 rocking a Fujifilm livery on SSR Type Cs staged at the Stateside Garage booth. Jude is a man with many talents: A car builder, photographer, and graphic designer all in one. It was very cool to meet & chop it up with him. I plan to eventually collab with my guy one of these days.

This VIP UCF20 LS400 owned by @garetdos from Cali was very sleek. Not sure what kit it has, but I like it along with the vented fenders that has a paint fade effect, mag blue TE37s, and L-TIDE BBK.

Solid S13 coupe running a BN Sports kit, Ganadors, and SSR Minerva wheels.

Leo’s R32 dumped on BBS LMs.

Clean S14 Kouki running a 2JZ-GTE swap on Enkei RPF1s.

Nik @dat_sand_taco showed out his crazy Tacoma that sweeps through the sand dunes.

Loved this JZX100 Mark II Tourer V, owned by @thewagondragon, staged at the Rays booth. Don’t see too many cars out here with a Kazama Auto kit and matte blue gunmetal TE37SLs. So fire!

Josh Velasco from VC Garage Hi came through bright & shiny in his IS300 SportCross. Nice to see the 3 spoke trend come back. He flexed hard with two different chrome sets: Super Advan Racing Version 2 on the fronts and Work Equip Voggards on the rears. Looking good brah!

Datsun 510 on SSR Formula Mesh wheels.

The well put together 2J swap that powers Cole Marten’s AWD R32.

Renegade Motorsports/Enjin Haus won ‘Best Booth’ at this year’s event. Sergio’s S2K and their white 997 on Advan TC-4s were the perfect display cars.

Loved this Honda Accord Euro R with 5 lug, TE37s, and Spoon brakes powered with an H22A. Very JDM, but so good!

I’ve always known Owen Felty for his old VSM EK with the M&M Racing kit. He got rid of it and built this new hatch. He’s the first I know of with the Mode Parfume front bumper up here in the PNW. This car is a lot more subtle compared to his last build, but I dig it! Owen has been grinding hard lately producing some unique hardware for his business, Felty Fab.

Dino Eusebio’s widebody RSX looking good on a staggered set of Desmond Regamaster EVO IIs.

Ken & Sabrina Sugawara looking fresh with the matching Lost & Found AJ1s. Couple goals forreal 🤩

Ken had Ben Malla of Backyard Boogie custom paint a valve cover for the show. A tri-fade using traditional Mugen colors, just like what Ben did to one of his B-series valve covers a while back. It’s the little details that matter.

The homegirl, Metree Ngeth, ripped her jeans coming out of the EK3 that morning so of course Mikey wanted to flex that.

The 3 lovely ladies representing C’s Customizing.

I don’t know if Coop was either lit or happy with joy, but I know he had a great time with his supportive crew.

Metree is a real one for modeling & going around with me half of the time. My spontaneous model always coming in clutch when I need her 👏🏼

Of course I had to have her flex with the best from the West.

Thanks for checking out my coverage of the show! Stay tuned on IG, because I got some pretty cool things cooking up 😉
