Wekfest Seattle 2024 Part 1

Welp, here’s another long time, no post… But what’s new? lol… Life has been extra busy with the usual work/business, but I’m alive and happy. I was too busy with some trips just recently. Went to NYC for the first time for a week days prior to Wekfest Seattle, and back to Hawaii from just a few days right after the event. A combination of an early 30th Birthday celebration along with some networking. I was trying to knock out at least this part of my coverage in between the trips, but things just didn’t align. So best believe I’ve been tired, but always on the go within the past month and a half.

Anyways, here’s some highlights from roll-in. Enjoy and Happy 4th!

Started off the day with meeting up the Backyard Boogie squad. Of course we were running late, but we made it lol.

Intec Racing brought up the Garage Active x Greddy Performance carbon GTR! Such an amazing sight to see!

Austin Pennington from Never Content went all out with the livery on his FD RX-7.

Bill Master’s Mugen themed EP3 and Brian Madayag’s K-powered EG hatch shining bright as the sun started to peak out.

Is that “dagreenek”?! Nope, it’s just one of Huy Hoang’s cars: A supercharged K-swapped EK hatch with a Mugen SS lip, MF10’s, and whole lot of other Mugen and EK9 Type-R goodies. I was gonna walk up to say what’s up, but Huy had one of his friend’s bring in the car.

Huy had another homie drive his Mugen RSX, which was the 2023 1st place ‘Best of Show’ winner. You think 2 cars is too much to show out? Wait ‘til you see what’s next….

The newest addition to Huy’s fleet: The King Motosports EP3! So crazy to see this in person. IYKYK! I’ll get into more detail about it in part 2.

I still get confused sometimes about the different types of Porsche 911’s since a lot of them look alike, or maybe I’m just slow lol. I gotta say though, Jarryd Dang’s 997 GT3 RS on BBS E88’s was definitely a neck breaker!

Dru Vun’s latest project is this ‘85 pickup. Flawless paint, sick lift kit, and a freakin’ 1JZ swap!

Will Lin’s RWB 993 running an LS3 swap looking pretty fine at roll in.

Rodney Sonza debuted his S15 Silvia equipped with a Vertex Edge widebody kit on Takata Green TE37 Sagas.

SERIALNINE seems to always come through with a bigger pack each year. Can’t be mad about it though since this lineup was hard!

People always seem to praise the JZX100 Chasers and MKII’s a lot, like myself, but I still think the Cresta is an underrated chassis. AJ Gillet came through with his well put-together Cresta on polished Weds Kranze Rapiers. A combo that’s rarely ever seen, but I like it!

It’s 2024, which means the R34 GT-R is finally legal in the states. Which also means you’re definitely gonna see a lot more pop up on the streets, especially replicas lol. This V-Spec R34 on Volk GTS wheels had a nice classic feel of what’s to come.

Daniel Yeh never fails to show out at all the major PNW events. I wonder if he works at Chatime, or maybe even owns a franchise? If that’s the case, I’ll take a hazelnut milk tea please 😁 But anyways, his boosted GD3 Fit always looks great.

I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t really a fan of the G8X when it first came out, but after some time it really grew on me. Bui took delivery of this Individual G80 M3 a year ago, and added on some nice pieces to it for the show including BBS E88’s and a few carbon parts from Racing Sport Concepts. He took home the ‘M of the Festival’ award. Congrats man!

Bui still has his E46 M3 on E88’s as well. Baller!

There were quite a few E92’s at the show, but this one stood out for me. I think maybe because it reminded me of Alex Yang's M3, which was one of the first street cars to rock E88’s years ago, especially with the Motorsport version that Team Schirmer used. Enough about that though. This E92, owned by Juls, was real nice with a carbon lip and GTS wing.

Eric Nguyen came out with his F80 M3 on BBS RS2’s. Love the red center caps matched with the red calipers. Simplicity at it’s best!

Phill Piengkham brought out his A90 for it’s first official car show. Quite a few mods including an EVS Tuning carbon lip with carbon splitter, EVS fenders, Seibon carbon hood & wing, and Advan GT Beyond wheels. Looking good brotha!

As you can see, Team Overtake had a fat convoy involving a lot of BMW’s, a couple MKV Supras, and even a Honda?! Overtake Daddy, Alex Tran, debuted his del Sol that he’s been busting his ass on in such a short amount of time. He acquired it last fall from a cousin in the Bay Area, and went straight to work on it ever since. He did something that hasn’t been done in a while, which is an EG front end conversion. Definitely reminded me of the early Honda Tech days. Alex then tossed out the blown GSR motor it originally had and threw in a K20. Everything looked so good, especially since he was able to do a lot of the work himself. My favorite is the clean set of RSZ-R’s it came with. I’m glad Alex is back in another Honda. Not really something he originally wanted, but I’m sure this one is more sentimental. Sorry Alex, but I didn’t get any photos of the M3 since I have a shit ton already, but you’ll get a different post all to yourself eventually lol.

Jacob Reyes acquired “Kingpin”, the 1 of 1 Mugen Prototype car, a year ago and this is the first time I’ve seen it in person. Pretty cool to see all the aero and miscellaneous parts where it all started. He continues to make subtle, yet tasteful changes to the car. Crazy that there are now 2 King Motorsport cars in the PNW, since Huy recently picked up the EP3.

Jacob also brought along “Monica”, the minty Milano Red GSR. He added on an OEM ‘97 ITR front lip, ‘98+ Optional side skirts & rear valences, and of course a few Mugen goodies including his rare spec’d M7’s.

It’s been a few years since Steve Kwan last brought out his Imola Red E46 M3 to Wekfest. He ditched the Regas, and threw back on his OG CE28’s. So good!

The best judge in the industry, Tony Dau, made a few changes to his 997 involving a GT3 Cup spoiler and switched from silver E88’s to a fresh gold set.

Nic Buettner had a simple look last year with his GR Corolla, which basically only had on MF10s lol. This year he went beefy with a Seibon carbon lip, Sayber Design side skirts, GROW Design spoiler, and CE28N Plus wheels. Pretty damn fire! He has something BIG in the works, and I can’t wait to see it 😏

A very nice debut for Loc Nguyen and his PY Integra Type-R. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a C-West front half spoiler. I honestly think it’s one of the best looking lips for the JDM DC2 front end. It flows well with the J’s Racing hood & fenders, OEM optional side skirts & rear valences, Ganador mirrors, and Gen 2 Mugen wing. Always been a fan of 17’s on Integras, and the Satin Black Regamaster EVO II’s definitely set it off.

The “EKstinction Survivor” continues to live on under the good hands of Ken Sugawara. He still keeps it minty, but mods it to his liking including a K-swap. Still so good! Ken unfortunately sold his Mugen FK8 [still kinda annoyed I lost that raffle 🤣], but I knew this car was meant for him.

Raul Rodriguez unfortunately sold his Mugen EK last year, but he still made the trek from Yakima and brought Jesus Aguilar’s EK hatch for him since he was sick during that time.

I messed up and didn’t get enough photos of this BB6 Prelude owned & built by Joshua Luquette. Love the Mugen theme, but what’s really impressive is that it’s boosted & supercharged… Hoping to catch this car again soon.

Jag Matto stays killing the exotic scene out here in the PNW with his Aventador. I will always be a fan of it.

If the Aventador was too much, then think again. Jag picked up this Huracan STO a year ago, and the color combo is wild! The Vorsteiner carbon kit with MV Forged wheels were nice additions to the supercar.

Finally put a face & name to a car and met Corey. He went under the knife of his FD during winter/spring: New fenders, painted bay, and built engine. Unfortunately Corey had some starting issues that morning, so he had to tow & push the car in. Hoping to hear the sound of it buzzing at the next event.

Clean NA1 NSX with a color matched Downforce lip and Spoon calipers tucked behind the 18'“/19” staggered concave TE37’s.

SXE10 Altezza rocking a TRD aero on Advan SA3 G2 wheels.

One car I was looking forward to seeing was Amedeo Funaro’s UKDM DC2 Type-R. He made the drive down from Canada to debut the car and attended events all weekend. Saying “the car is clean” is an understatement… I’ll get more into detail with quite a few photos in the second part of my coverage.

Chelsey Pacheco went through a whole refresh on her EK involving a new paint job, B20V swap, Eimer Engineering roll bar, J’s Racing fenders, and Exceed lip. I know I’m missing a few things. Still wondering why she got another set of silver TE’s in a similar spec as her old set… Maybe sentimental reasons? I dig it though. Her beefy ass front tires are what got me trippin lol, but overall looks good! It matches that fat smile behind the steering wheel. Crazy how she was able to knock out everything within a short duration, but with the help of Just P’s Garage and some sponsors they made it happen just in time to debut at her “90LDEN ERA” event she hosted the day before WF. Great job Chels!

I don’t know what’s not to love about Jesus’ hatch. The Rando Sports kit paired with the Top Fuel spoiler gives it the real nostalgic look, and the Project Mu calipers peaking through the Sprint Hart CPR’s are just a sick combo.

Carlos Garcia made the drive west as well with his family. He converted his EG3 to manual some time ago, and switched it to a more OEM plus look. I like the Enkei 92 mesh wheels. Reminds me of the good ol’ Honda-Tech days.

A solid example of a subtle, yet clean S2000 would be this AP1 owned by Andre Tapang. Everything is so sleek, including the Backyard Special front lip, Amuse R1 hood, and OEM hardtop. What makes this car stand out is the 16” Regamaster EVO II’s wrapped in some beefy Advan tires. Something most people won’t do, but I love it!

Nice to see Mike again with his flawless S2K.

It’s always great to have John Zuberek attend local events, not because of his beautiful E30 M3, but mainly because him and his fiance Chloe Vasquez are awesome people overall! Always great to see & catch up with them.

The most trusted wheel dealer in the PNW, Chinh Do, finally made an appearance & showcased at Wekfest with his well executed NSX. He sold his black one early last year, and got this GPW gem locally last summer. I know he’s happy since that’s what he was originally aiming for. He has all the proper aero and fix ins such as the Advance Flatout lip & side skirts, Taitec GT500 carbon wing, and Ganadors. Of course it wouldn’t be a Chinh built car without double staggered RG1’s. So fire!

Aaron Chau made some pretty big changes ever since he last showed out a couple years ago. He added the Advance front fenders, Ganadors, Mugen Prototype hatch, wing, and a nice set of concave TE37SL’s. Looking good my friend!

Dan Nguyen finally ditched the Work Meisters he had on for a while and replaced them with a custom set of SSR Koenig wheels. He even added a Voltex wing too.

Ken “Radar” Edwards popped out for once in his Mugen equipped DC2R. Still looking prime as always.

A couple of the VIP bros cruised through. Ed Garbono was shining in his PFL LS430 UL with a WALD lip kit on a fresh set of Junction Produce Scaras. Still waiting for the day he gets a proper air kit…

The Soufend bro, Kevin Chhun, made his first WF appearance with his two tone LS400 utilizing a Wald Executive Line V3 kit and tucking some dubs! I never knew these Garson DAD wheels existed, but they’re buss-down and so nice in person!

This JDM ‘90s Hino Ranger Hauler was back at it hauling an R32 GT-R and S13 coupe.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for part 2. Also here’s a few more photos:
