Backyard Boogie Seattle

Welcome to the blog! It’s been a few months since I announced Final Shutter back in May and I know I’ve been slacking on launching the site and posting any content on IG since a lot of business & work has been keeping me busier than usual, but it’s time I get back on this! I wanted to dedicate my first official post to the boys from Backyard Boogie [@backyardboogieseattle]! Over the past couple years, people have been somewhat confused about who we are. Are we a car club? Are we an automotive shop? Are we a gang where we’ll steal people’s cars & parts? Hell no! We’re just a group of great friends from South Seattle who enjoy building & driving our cars and helping others turn their vision into a reality whenever we’re able to! A lot of long, endless days & nights are spent putting things together for fellow community members or even just people that need work done. Real hard work & dedication goes down in the backyard, but it all pays off. Whenever we’re not grinding in the back we’re simply just kicking it hard, meeting up with others, and cruising around the beautiful PNW.

Michael Legaspi’s [@mustbemike] DC5 Integra Type-R (yes it’s legit you stupid fuckboys), Winson Mang’s [@fast_life206] EG4 Civic hatch, Franky Chan’s [@masterfranky] DA6 Integra XSi, & Sven Malla’s [@svenmalla] EF2 Civic sedan hard parked after @nwmotiv HondafestNW 2021.

Believe it or not, Ben’s EF2 was the first car he fully painted by himself! Before it was just miscellaneous parts. His work improved way much over the past couple years.

Mocha, one of Ben’s pocket bullies, getting some rest on the radiator support. I was taking photos of Ben painting some parts and turned to get out of the way and witnessed this cute moment, so I had to capture a photo lol.

Ben is currently making a few additions for the official Version 2 of his car ever since he made a debut at Wekfest Seattle 2019. He’s taken his car out a few times ever since then, but he definitely added some nice things for people to see next month for Wekfest Seattle 2021. Until then here’s a shot of Ben’s other pocket bully, Lil’ Dinner [@lildinner_thebully], chillin hard. He’s super famous and the perfect workshop dog to be around with.

Derek Malla [@derekmulla] working on his EF hatch that he’s been building the past year to debut at Wekfest Seattle next month. Can you believe a 15 year did all of this?! Neither can I. This is just a teaser for now since I’ll be making a separate post about him,

I can’t wait for these two to be “done” with their cars so I can shoot it!

Mikey & Johnny trying to figure out why Franky’s DA6 wasn’t starting after he installed a Jackson Racing supercharger last fall. Turns out he didn’t have gas LOL!

We don’t only work on Hondas. We got love for almost any chassis out there! Long’s E36 M3 on rare Evasive Spec TE37’s is the perfect daily (baller…)!

One thing I forgot to mention is that we’re all about good eats, so best believe we’re cooking all the fire food in the back!

Most of the time when we go cruise, we end up at Oasis in Chinatown mainly since they’re open late. Their drinks aren’t bad, plus their popcorn shrimp & popcorn chicken is pretty bomb! Don Nguyen’s [@ihavenocar] DAP EK hatch & Justin Ramos’ [@ramodagreat] boosted Canadian EJ1 coupe with the squad in the back choppin it up. I’ll make another separate post about our cruises & meets later in the near future.

Mostly everyone, but missing a few others, at the Summer Madness meet back in June. Too lazy to tag everyone lol. Good thing I came late because it was too fucking hot!

That’s it for now! If you made it this far, you're a real one and I appreciate you! Stay tuned for the next post!
