Pit+Paddock Performance Car Invitational Show 8.6.22

It’s been a few years since an old friend Sam Du last hosted a car show in the PNW. The Super Street at LeMay show in 2019 was for sure a successful show, but ever since he left SS and launched Pit+Paddock last year, Sam continues to spread the word about all the hard working enthusiasts in the industry. This event was the first ever show they collaborated with Formula Drift, and it was a HIT! They were only able to bring in about 45 well-built performance cars since the space was pretty tight, although you know what they say: quality over quantity! It was another sunny & hot day in Monroe, but that didn’t stop a lot of people from coming out to support. I’ll be honest I wasn’t really planning to slide through since I already had stuff planned for that day, but Sam hit me up a few weeks back asking if I was gonna make it out. For that guy, I can’t really say no to him lol. Plus I do my best to work around certain people’s schedule and I’m sure it was a meaningful event since it was held in our home state ✌🏼

The “Ritz” man, Caryl Dela Rosa, pulled up in his RE Amemiya FC3S RX-7. He typically makes a nice entrance with the Bridgeport 13B buzzing through the scenery. It seems like Caryl rarely comes out now, assuming he’s just been grinding hard at Seafood City. Barkada soon, my dude 🍻 We’ll eventually make it happen lol.

Rich homie Steve Kwan worked the show and helped stage some cars that morning. He finally sold his Regas and put back on his bronze OG CE28’s. His car wasn’t part of the show, but a lot of spectators liked his car and someone actually wanted to buy it. Everything has a price!

Ryan Lee also helped out the Pit+Paddock team that day and brought his Twin Turbo Z33 350Z on Regamaster EVO II’s. The previous weekend I caught him at The Ridge running some laps during The Speed Syndicate x Revscene track day event. He had some slight overheating issues towards the end, but eventually made it home safely that night.

A handful of S-Chassis from Goon Squad waiting to get staged.

Jazzy Jeff” rolling in smooth with his 2J powered Pandem GR86.

Even though one of the best drivers in the game, Dai Yoshihara, retired from Formula D last year, he offers ride alongs to a few lucky people in his 1,000+ hp BRZ as part of the “Ride with DAI” experience! The Turn 14 crew also hauled up Dai’s K20C1 powered AE86 to display at the show as well!

The turbocharged LS that powers the BRZ beast.

It was a nice treat seeing Dai’s AE86R in person again. The first time was at the Super Street x Bowls LA event back in 2019 when Sam first debuted his Launch Edition A90 Supra that was built for SEMA.

Jonny Grunwald from TRMNLracing made the trek up from SoCal and brought his RX-7 along with him. I’ve seen this all over social media and magazines over the years, and it’s fucking sick! Never expected to see it around Seattle though, but still an awesome experience.

I went to go see the pits and vendors for a quick moment, and what really caught my attention was the Toyota Gazoo Racing booth displaying the GR86 and GR Corolla. Love the details on the new Corolla, especially since they offer them with manual transmissions.

Had a quick beer with the homies [at 10am…] and went back to a crowded show. The doors had just opened to the public and a lot of people were very eager to see everything. Kinda regret not getting photos earlier, but it is what it is.

John Zuberek took off the TE37’s from his E30 M3 and replaced them with his classic BBS RS set.

Nikolay Konstantinov debuted this S15 Silvia Spec R rocking an Origin kit, 326 Power wing, and OG GT5 wheels. Pretty cool that it’s the same color as his Koguchi Power 240SX.

It took a while to get this shot without a whole lot of people around, but worth it.

Michael Bush came through with his Spoon Sports equipped S2000 that gets properly used on the track.

Benny Winterowd has built some awesome cars including this MKII Tourer V JZX90 fitted with a Uras kit. It’s not too crazy, super clean, and has a perfect ride height sitting low on Advan RZ-F2’s. Definitely one of my favorites from the show.

Never knew there was an S14 with a Rocket Bunny Boss aero local until I seen this one owned by Nestor from DOUBLE TAKE!

Brandon Henness brought out his LS swapped ‘72 240Z that was part of both the 2020 SEMA Young Guns and 2021 SEMA Battle of the Builders competitions. Love the carbon fiber accents and aggressive CCW wheels. This was one of the few top picks and a huge crowd attraction at the show.

This super clean F20C swapped Datsun 510 owned by Sooki Garage was another unique build that caught a lot of people’s attention.

Nice to see the BHM guys [Bill Master, Mel Diego, Huy Hoang] show out for once.

Daniel Yeh’s turbocharged GD3 Fit rocking some J’s Racing goodies and TE37 Sonic wheels. I seen this car at the recent Wekfest Seattle event for a quick glimpse, but didn’t get the chance to snap some photos of it. Good thing he came down again because this thing is pretty cool!

Mikee Andrada brought both of his fully built EK’s. Hate to say it, but this might have been the last time these two cars would be displayed next to each other since the hatch is currently up for auction on the JDM Gurus site. If it sells for what Mikee is asking, I sure hope it goes to a good home. Happy bidding!

Alexander Ivanov was the last one to roll in with his full bridge RX-7. This was the first time I’ve seen an FC on Regamasters in person, and I like it a lot.

Another clean S15 Spec R on VS-KF’s from BC.

This LS powered FD RX-7 rocking a Pandem Rocket Bunny kit made quite some noise coming into the venue that morning.

Formula D Prospec Driver, Zach Farrar, is a talented Northwest drifter and competes in his S13 coupe loaded with an S14 front end conversion and 2JZ swap.

At a slight distance I thought to myself, “Oh cool another drift ready S Chassis on VS-KF’s…” until I got close to the engine and best believe I was stunned. A boosted K swap sitting nicely in the custom painted & welded bay.

The Hiro’s Hotrods boys never fail to show up & show out.

Danny Vasquez’s boosted E46 touring on custom Veilside Andrew Racing wheels. If you think this wagon is sick, wait til you see what he got cooking next… 😉

A clean & simple JZX100 Chaser. Best believe I’m gonna get one sometime in the future…

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for the next one!
