Wekfest Seattle 2022 Part 2

Work has been kicking my ass the past few weeks, but I finally had some time to catch up on photos. Since Wekfest was exactly a month ago, I figured this would be the deadline to release the rest of my coverage lol... I don’t have that much to say for this, except that I’ll be attending Formula D Seattle and Hondafest NW this upcoming weekend, so stay tuned for that. Enjoy!

There was a section right at the Convention Center that was the main entrance to the hall for spectators filled with “Featured Cars,” and Jer’s car was one of them! Compared to last year’s show, he took off the Arios front bumper and went back to his traditional OEM bumper with Spoon lip. I knew he was going to take a trophy home since he was staged in this area. Congrats on winning ‘Best Overall Honda’ man!

John Zuberek’s E30 M3 looking good as always on OG TE37’s.

Jag Matto didn’t bring his Aventador to the show since it seems like it’s getting a slight makeover, but he did roll in with his super dope 996 Turbo that makes 1350 HP!

I regret not getting more detailed photos of Mark Wang’s 550 Maranello. I guess I was just overwhelmed with admiring it.

I will forever be amazed with cars like this. Makes you wonder what those shops in Japan are doing when building these JDM x Euro machines.

Don Nguyen aka Gramps made a sudden surprise with his DAP EK hatch. Can’t remember the last time his car was on the road, but glad he made it to the show.

Don was telling me that he slapped in one of his motors days prior to the show, plugged everything in, and ran it. Fortunately no hiccups, so he just asked Joey if he could bring his car and eventually got the “Yeah just pull up.” Must be nice to be famous.

Thomas Hatcher’s Trailblazer SS went full on Patriot Mode repping a huge American flag on the rear. He gave the TE37’s a break and slapped on bronze ZE40’s.

As if his motor setup wasn’t dope enough, Tom put in a bigger turbo… Really dig the green accents on the parts that Cooper from C’s Customizing refinished.

Speaking of Cooper Boudia, he killed it again this year for his C’s Customizing booth! This is the second year in a row he won ‘Best Booth’ [which I called from the beginning]. Had to get a photo of him with his whole setup and properly built DC Integra.

This was the first time Namsayin had a booth at Wekfest. Safe to say they had everything sorted nicely with selling their merchandise and even had a podcast going on. Walter Franco’s supercharged BRZ equipped with a Liberty Walk kit and custom Savini wheels was a great addition.

Eric Anderson’s Wonder Civic, built by Austin Hironaka from Hiro’s Hotrods, looking flawless as ever. Guess what? He took home the ‘Car of the Festival’ award AGAIN! The 2nd time winning the Best trophy truly must’ve been an amazing experience.

Thomas Strom’s ‘97 ITR was definitely a crowd pleaser. A whole lot of rare Mugen parts including front spoiler, side skirts, Gen 2 spoiler, and even chrome headlight covers. If you look closely, he’s rocking Mugen calipers as well behind the formula silver CE28’s. Not everyone’s taste, but I like it. He won the ‘Acura of the Festival’ award.

Inside the super clean & shaved engine bay is a K24 swap paired with Hayward Performance ITB’s. Another thing that stood out was the valve cover paint that matches the ultra rare Mugen B-series colorway. It’s no surprise he got 2 trophies with the second one being the ‘Engine Bay of the Festival’ award.

The infamous shitbox_itr0812 owned by Mike Godfrey made an appearance from Portland. Mike has spent many years restoring this awesome build, and I give him many props for converting it to AWD. He had a proper display flexing his driveshaft setup. I’m pretty sure some people were hating about ruining a certain chassis, but it’s good to be different & do shit not many people are brave enough to do. Mike ended up going home successfully with 1st place ‘Integra/RSX of the Festival’ award. First big show, first big win! Congrats again brotha!

Looking forward to Mike ripping this beast on the track since that’s what he built it for.

Khamren Khi finally showed up to Wekfest with his EG hatch rocking a Seargent front bumper, Rocket Dancer lip, Chargespeed fenders & side skirts, and Live Sports wing. His new setup with the Regamaster EVO II’s is my favorite so far.

Ish Cruz came up as well with his K-swapped Tahitian Green Pearl EG Si with a few Spoon Sports parts including the front lip, valve cover, and brakes tucked behind some silver TE37’s.

Jesus Aguilar was one of the few that made the drive from Yakima and brought his EK hatch that was actually featured on Super Street a few years ago. Compared to then he’s now rocking a First Molding front lip and J’s Racing spoiler. His car is now tucked with some nicely concaved CE28’s, and won 1st place ‘Civic of the Festival’.

I will automatically like any car using an ARC Induction Box & Intake with their motor.

Jacob Reyes’ minty EK that you will never find a single flaw on. Instead rolling on his rare OG Mugen M7’s on the driver side, he opted out for bronze CE28’s. Although he still had the silver MF8’s on the passenger side that I didn’t capture. This was also the 2nd year in a row he won the ‘Restomod of the Festival’ award.

I missed out on checking out Raul Rodriguez’s EK4 SiR at last year’s event, so I had to make sure I had time for it. Raul switched up from the full Mugen theme and slapped back on the SiR bumpers with a Spoon lip. Even slapped on his OG spec TE37’s that were polished by the famous chamorroboy86.

Bryan Agliam representing Entourage with his VIP inspired bagged TL on Leon Hardiritt Ordens.

Will Spangler’s turbocharged S2000 fitted with a widebody Voltex Racing kit on Volk Racing ZE40’s. He won Best S2000.

Andres Perez’s Fleetwood was the proper centerpiece at the Exotix Snacking booth. Kinda sad it was the only lowrider at the show, but since it was a holiday weekend I’m pretty sure all the Eazy Duz It guys were already busy.

Another build I missed out on capturing at last year’s show was this Koguchi Power 240SX owned by Nikolay Konstantinov. Very well executed with parts I don’t know the name of, but hey it looks pretty fucking awesome lol. In my opinion this is the best S-Chassis up here in the PNW.

Good to have many Canadians attend the show, including Brendan Taylor with his Nissan Stagea 260rs. I believe the last time I seen it was at the 2019 Wekfest Seattle show, and it still looks great.

I don’t really know much about WRX’s, except that they’re know for having head gasket issues. I had to see why there was always people surrounding this bugeye owned by Chris P, so I waited until it died down. Nice Ganador mirrors and on super wide SSR Work Meisters. But that’s not what attracted many people…

Under the hood was a well put-together 1JZGTE swap with a great amount of RK Titanium parts in the shaved bay.

Back at it with Jeff Woodruff’s S15 rocking a Super Doof kit on Nismo 57R wheels. Some people questioned on why it was LHD…

Proper 2JZ swap powering this Silvia.

If you went through the 1st part of my coverage, I mentioned that Jeff brought another car and it’s this new GR86. The homie Dave Kang was telling me the whole story about the car and mentioned that Jeff purchased this car brand new from the dealership and immediately cut up the body to install the Rocket Bunny Pandem kit. It even had the temp plates still on. But that’s not the best part…

Jeff also ditched the FA24 motor and swapped in a 2J! If I can remember, I was told that they swapped in another 2JZ they had laying around the day before the show since the first swap didn’t run as good. Talk about a gangster move! I believe this is the first 2J powered GR86 in the States!

My guy Teddie Pequet finally made it to Wekfest for the first time with his full Aimgain GS400. The weekend before the event, he brought the car down to the Bay Area to show out at Spocom SF. He was able to show his true potential & dedication, and was finally plated as an official member of Liberty VIP! Congrats again fam! 🗽

Boeuth Beua’s GS300 was definitely one of my favorite cars at the show. I remember catching it at a quick glimpse at last year’s show during roll-in because of the super blood out interior, but didn’t really get to see the whole thing. I was eager to meet him and talk about his build, but instead it was his brother-in-law that walked up to me & mentioned that he brought the car in for Boeuth. Although I did get the chance to meet him a few weeks ago at HIN. Real cool & humble guy I gotta say. But yeah his GS is sick rocking the Serial Nine Breed Series fenders that were molded onto the body that was helped put together by Viesna “Kandypaint” Nhet who did a fire job laying down the wet paint. They took home the ‘GS/LS of the Festival’ award.

Very solid Aristo 2J swap in the bay paired with a nice turbo. Love the custom rain drop effect on the coil pack cover.

Thanks for reading! 🤙🏼
