Wekfest Seattle 2021 Part 2

So… It turns out I took a lot more photos than I thought I did at the show! Although don’t get too excited. You'll see a good amount of the same cars you seen in the first part of my coverage lol. I usually get a good chunk of my coverage during the awards ceremony, but this year the Wekfest crew didn’t have a proper staff member to take pics of all the winners so Joey [@stickydiljoe] called out my name in front of everyone and asked me to do it. I guess you can say it was a bittersweet moment lol. Nonetheless I did my best with shooting as much photos as I could during roll out with so little energy I had left in me. But anyways, enjoy the rest of my coverage of the show!

Like I mentioned in Part 1, this was a big event for @backyardboogieseattle. Our booth was poppin all day long with sick cars and the release of various merch! Shoutout to the staff members Carey Nguyen [@mariannecarey], Mia Hernandez [@champagnemizzy], & Jedy Wy [@jedclarence_a_wy] for holding it down for the team and dealing with the crazy traffic all day! Peep the sample print I made for the shop. I was surprised someone wanted to buy it! Stay tuned for real prints!

Ben [@svenmalla] made some major changes to his EF sedan since his debut at Wekfest Seattle 2019. Some of those key parts added were rare JDM EF2 bumpers with chrome moldings & round foglights, a custom lip made by Ben himself, Mugen M7’s, and Mugen S1R seats. Proper execution made his car a real crowd pleaser.

Some add-ons Ben threw into his engine bay included a Mugen valve cover, custom titanium intake made by Mikee Andrada aka M-FAB [@miketiga], custom Hush Performance catch can made by @wefshitup, Rywire harness, and CSF tucked radiator. Super fire!

Ben’s setup was so fire, I had my awesome model friend Marie Madore [@marie_madore] take some pics with it! 🤩

Super proud of the little homie, Derek Malla [@derekmulla], for finishing his car on time for the show. People finally got to witness what a 16 year old from the Soufend was capable of creating.

Under the hood was a built B20V with a custom faded Mugen colorway valve cover and Vibrant catch can.

Ben brought in Alanna and tag teamed with the Boogie booth to help promote her floral business Verde & Co. [@verdeseattle].

One of the best presentations ever with her Kei truck and flower display on the bed. Ben actually painted the truck back in April! Alanna was so busy the whole show making & selling bouquets that it reached to a point where it was an hour wait.

If you were a prospector, the first thing you would see right when you entered the exhibit center was the Exotix Snacks & Goods [@exotixsnacking] booth ran by the fam Kells Leung [@dimsummaster] & Rodney Dollente. They’ve been killing at all the car shows & meets all summer long slanging some of the best snacks from all around the world!

A nice pair of NSX’s owned by Tam Le [@tamtechauto] and Mak Chhim [@nsx209]. I messed up and didn’t get more pics of either of these cars, but congrats to the bro Mak for winning Second Place ‘Vendor Car of the Festival!’

Terry’s Integra is something I will always enjoy seeing in person. The attention to detail is ridiculous! It’s no surprise he won First Place ‘Acura of the Festival.’ But there’s more…

Terry got 2 awards this time and the second was ‘Engine Bay of the Festival’! As you can tell he definitely deserved it.

Love the overall simplicity on Pow’s EG. Rare Mugen lip, Vision mirrors, Sprint Hart CP-F wheels, and Endless brakes. My guy won First Place ‘Civic of the Festival!’

Clean engine bay setup with a Maxim Works 4-2-1 header and Mugen air box. Shoutout to Ron Khamphouvong [@_12ron_k] for the immaculate paint work!

Terry is so rich, he had someone bring in his NSX rolling on Advan RZDF wheels and Stoptech brakes.

Another shot of Tony’s GT3. He just received a brand new set of BBS E88’s and I’m excited to see them on the car!

Tam Phan’s [@datamas] E30 on BBS RS wheels. Such a classic look!

Huy’s RSX and Bill Master’s [@siborg_ep] boosted EP3 on CE28’s.

Mel’s Mugen equipped EP3 on CE28’s. This car was actually featured in Super Street over 10 years ago, and it still looks great!

It’s all in the details with Brian’s EG. If you look close, he’s running Porsche brakes behind the CE28 wheels. From what I seen on IG, he has a proper K-swap that I didn’t get the chance to see…

Legit EK9 Civic Type R on TE37’s and Spoon brakes owned by Vu Nguyen [@vugina].

Mikee Andrada [@miketiga] came through with a more aggressive look on his EK coupe rocking formula silver 16x8.5 TE37’s, J’s Racing fenders, and Exceed front lip.

In Part 1 I stated that Mikee is one of the best fabricators in the industry, and his engine setups speak for themselves.

Mikee made his official debut on his newest EK hatch build flexing hard with the world’s first Exceed front lip for the 96-98 Civic chassis and custom painted TE37’s.

Once you take a look at the engine bay, you can’t help but notice the huge Kinsler ITB’s sticking out paired well with the K-swap. Mikee fabricated all the goodies in here including the titanium header, front strut tower bar, and catch can. Guess what? He was another guy that won 2 awards: First place ‘Honda of the Festival & ‘Best Engineering!’ Not sure which awards went which car, but oh well. It was a well deserved double win! Congrats again Manong!

Tai Lam’s [@tlga.garage] S2000 rocking a Spoon front bumper and S2K spec OG Regamaster EVO’s. He even has the rare center caps.

Noah Bush’s [@nbushyy] NA1 NSX with a Spoon front bumper, mirrors, & brakes behind a clean set of Regamaster Marquis Promadas.

Crazy S2000 with a J’s Racing GT kit accompanied with an aggressive set of CE28’s owned by Erich Woermann [@erichwoermann]. He won ‘Widebody of the Festival’.

The @richtuned NSX on mag blue TE’s owned by Richard Todd. He won ‘NSX of the Festival’.

The Boogie Crew hosted a giveaway for these 1 of 1 Status seats that were previously owned & customized by the homie Long Phan [@hitmonphan]. You had to spend a certain amount at their booth in order to have received a ticket. The winner ended up being a mutual friend from the Soufend!

I really digged this 1JZ swapped IS300 on Volk Racing ZE40’s. It’s crazy because this car used to be owned by the homie John Lon [@jleezybruv]. I should’ve taken a sticker.

Props to the new owner though! Awesome engine setup!

One of my all time favorite Ferraris is for sure Terry Nguyen’s [@f430r] F430 on Takata green TE’s. It seems like Terry has a different set of wheels for this car for every day of the week because every time I see this car, it’s something new & crazy!

Such a simple, yet exotic look. He took home ‘Best Exotic of the Festival.’

Danny Pak’s [@dannyp1818] famous Ferrari 458 GT3. Apparently the homie Omar drove it straight from The Bay which I still can’t believe ‘til this day 😳

Still pretty crazy to see crazy cars from Cali like this around, but then again what else do ballers do with their money except buy more cars?

While Omar was driving up the 458, he got his supercharged E92 M3 [@cleanm3] brought up in a trailer. It seems like I only see him & his car at Wekfest Seattle, but nothing wrong with that! Always a “Welcome Home“ type of greeting I suppose. This time he’s rocking a clean set of BBS RT88 wheels.

Alex Tran [@ruthless.spec] brought both of his 2 white beauties to the show. An S54 swapped E36 M3 and boosted E92 335i. Very clean builds my friend 👌🏼

John took home another win with Second Place ‘BMW of the Festival.’ Congrats man! I can tell from Chloe’s smile and grip that she will always be your number supporter.

A Brabus and 4x4 G Wagon representing Vital Energy Motorsport rolling out.

Always nice seeing this F22C powered Celica GT at shows around the PNW.

Chris Rafanan’s [@rafameister] super clean S2000 [@ok_zaddy] rocking a Backyard Special front lip, JDM AP1 headhlights, bronze CE28’s, and Spoon brakes. Such a perfect combo. He took home 'S2000 of the Festival.’ I’m sad because I only caught him during roll in, his award acceptance, and roll out…

BJ Ta’s [@tumuchrice] all original EK coupe on Mugen M7’s.

Cliff Schuldt’s [@blackpicture13] real deal JDM EF3 on TE37 Sonic wheels.

Ken Sugawara’s [@special_k20671] Brilliant Sporty Blue FK8 Civic Type R rocking the Mugen lip kit and CE28’s.

I didn’t get a proper photo of Greg’s [@whiteegk24_greg] EG, but I did get a decent shot of his engine bay. For those that are asking, yes he’s fast lol.

Ryan Desiderio’s [@r_desiderio] Aztec Green EG hatch rocking a J’s Racing lip and mag blue TE’s.

For those that are wondering, this clean CR-X with a JDM SiR front end does indeed belong to that OG in the driver’s seat Gary Branca [@garybranca].

Andrew Avila’s [@drewavila28] EG rocking a carbon kevlar First Molding lip, carbon hood, and mag blue CE28’s.

Winson Mang’s [@fast_life206] K-swapped EG4 running a carbon First Molding lip as well and OG bronze 16x8 TE’s. Don Nguyen [@ihavenocar] aka Gramps brought it in for Winson since he was busy in the morning. Plus Don is in the process of rebuilding his DAP EK hatch which probably won’t come out for another 5 years since he just picked up an ITR.

Khyle Ramos’ [@lastogbarber] China Blue DB1 Integra on OG bronze 17” CE’s. Paulynn [@_paulynnlynn in the passenger seat] kept imitating throughout the show because she kept overhearing me say “Bro” to people I was chatting with 😅

Franky Chan [@masterfranky] got the prime parking spot, all thanks to the booth that ended up flaking at the show. This time he was rocking his old Sprint Hart CP-F’s on his DA6 Integra XSi. If only he had all of his parts on… 🤔🤣

One car that everyone was looking forward to seeing was Eric Anderson’s [@flatbeddirtbag] Wondering Civic built by the homie Austin Hironaka [@hironakasan] from @hiros_hotrods. I only have one word about this build: FLAWLESS! Everything is put together so well. Great job Austin and the rest of the crew that helped out creating this amazing machine.

JDM B18C with Kinsler ITB’s inside the super clean engine bay.

Eric took home ‘Car of the Festival’ aka the best award you could get at Wekfest! We all knew it from the get-go. Big congrats to Austin & Eric for all the hard work and dedication that went towards this build. Talk about a killer debut! Hotrod the World, baby!!!

You will always catch Austin and his RHD Del Sol at a lot of car gatherings up here. Another awesome car he built a while ago, and he isn’t afraid to run people for their money. Sike he’d rather take your money on 456 🎲.

His supercharged K-swap really puts down some serious numbers on the dyno. If I’m not mistaking, Austin went through about 3 other superchargers already…

Another Hiro’s Hotrod booth car was Ryan Medrzycki’s [@ridinmyjetski] SiR EK4 hatch on CE’s. Believe it or not, Ryan won this car from a raffle. So dope!

Cooper Boudia’s [@coopakaskip] Milano Red Integra on TE37’s and Spoon brakes. I messed up again and didn’t get a proper photo of him & his booth @cscustomizing, but I did get a nice photo of him receiving his ‘Booth of the Festival’ award with his pops! He really did have a unique presentation. Congrats again man!

When I said this was a big year for Backyard Boogie, I really meant it! Ben ended up winning the ‘Judges Choice’ award, which is something highly sought after. My guy has been busting his ass off all year long with the brand, build, and many other things that’s been cooking up in the back. He’s been super successful with putting Backyard Boogie on the map! 🙌🏼

A nice little group photo of most of the crew members. The others were off somewhere or knocked out in the car.

Jeremiah Whipple [@_jeremiahwhipple | @jerinthewhip] was running late to the show due to some motor problems, but at least he made it! His EG surely stood out with the Arios front bumper that I haven’t seen in a few years.

Jer got a whole refresh in his engine bay with fresh paint and Hayward ITB’s paired up with his K-swap.

Can’t go wrong with Mugen MF10’s.

The crew officially burnt out after loading up Derek’s car.

Impromptu shoot with all of the DA’s and EF’s.

Can’t forget the EG’s!

Ending this post with another photo of Ben’s EF with his award because this was a proud moment for everyone. Congrats again brotha!

Thanks for reading! Not sure what then next blog post will be about or when it will be posted since I’ll be busy with work and have a planned vacation, but stay tuned on IG!
