Wekfest Seattle 2022 Part 1

Long time, no post like usual lol. Been dealing with more personal setbacks, but had to revive this since Wekfest came back for the summer in the best city! This time it was held at the Seattle Convention Center rather than the usual Lumen Field. Some people got lost trying to find where the loading dock was for staging, and others even showed up at the old location. Enthusiasts in the community had some mixed feelings about a different venue since it was in the heart of downtown, but I personally liked it with the sick indoor lighting. Now that the Canada border finally opened, a lot of people came down to show out or spectate. That morning I arrived in the city around 7:00 so I could capture the roll in. Out of all the days in July, it rained the day of the show. Although I wasn't complaining about the weather because it definitely gave the photos the real PNW vibe. Despite the event occurred during the Holiday weekend, it was a great turnout overall with a great amount of quality builds & a huge crowd.

First guys I caught when I pulled up were the boys representing Hiro’s Hotrods. Eric Anderson looking clean as always with the Wonder Civic.

Austin’s latest completion is this JDM CR-X SiR owned by Auston Corbett. The 2 year long awaited project was definitely worth the wait since Auston won 2nd Best Honda of the Festival. Wish I got more photos of this thing. Guess I’ll catch them at Hondafest!

I heard a familiar tone, based off social media, pulling up and had to walk outside because I knew it was Mark Wang arriving with the infamous V12 powered Ferrari 550 Maranello built by the Legendary JDM GT-R shop ‘Garage Saurus.’ This thing is a freakin beast and will definitely pop your eardrums.

Wanna know how long I’ve been out of the drifting scene? A WHILE. I had never heard of Jeff Woodruff up until I seen this car. Some of my friends were filling me in with who he was and the dope cars he built at Dream Chasers Garage including this sick 2JZ swapped S15 Silvia. Easily one of my favorite cars at the show, and if you think this is dope wait until you see what else he brought in Part 2 of my coverage.

Really dig the black & green theme going on. I also thought this side shot was fire lol.

It was pretty entertaining watching the guys from Yume Sports push start this J’s Racing GT2 Fit. They killed it at the show winning a few awards, having a proper booth with a game simulation, and even had the J’s Racing President as an honored guest.

Tristan Besabe staging his R32 GT-R at the Mackin Industries booth. Still gotta set up a day to shoot & hang with him before he leaves…

Dave Kang from Team Menace full Aimgain VIP GT LS460 on Trafficstar DTX wheels. It’s currently for sale, so check it out on his IG for all the details.

The homie Omar stays whipping around other people’s cars except his M3 😂 This time in a ‘64 VW Beetle themed R8 owned by Jack Ultramotive.

Alex Tran definitely got the money shot with his S54 powered E36 M3. He took home 2nd Best BMW award. Should’ve been first, but congrats homie!

Team Overtake never disappoints since this is their 2nd year in a row placing Best Crew.

Glad to see that the Vancouver/Portland boys finally showed out for Wekfest! Luckee Bounvassana’s JDM front DC Integra rocking a full Rando Sports kit on TE37SL’s was an eye pleaser since this was the first time I seen this kit in person.

A car I wasn’t expecting to see, but glad I did, was Thomas Strom’s 97 Integra Type-R. Haven’t seen this since the 2019 show, and damn this thing got a lot more better than before. You’ll here more in Pt. 2.

As you can tell from Joey’s face, he was amused as well.

Entourage Car Club showed up for once. It’s been a while ever since their last minute appearance at last year’s Steep Streets Bonded By The Build. Marcus Mariano pulled up in a fresh new wrap done by Sam Keal from Diamond Auto Haus. He does a lot of amazing work, so hit them up!

Diddy Pagdilao’s GS300 on Orden’s looking cherry. Sam also helped detail this car.

Aaron Chau came through with both his Formula Red NA1 NSX on MF10’s and FK8 Civic Type-R.

The Advance Flatout kit flows real well with the car.

Ken Sugawara’s hella wet Mugen equipped FK8 Type-R.

First time seeing a CTR with a Varis kit up here owned by trackr_fk8. I like it! He placed 1st Best Type-R.

Ajay Berry from Super Kawaii slid with his 6 spd TSX rocking a Spoon front bumper, Ganador mirrors, Voltex wing, and OG bronze TE’s.

I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever seen BJ Ta roll on a different set of wheels other than his OG Mugen M7’s. Can’t go wrong with Mag Blue CE28’s!

Jon Pokela’s fresh AP1 S2000 with a Backyard Special lip and Mag Blue TE’s. I’m happy he’s able to put together one of his childhood dream cars while being an awesome family man. City Stars represent!

One of the greatest miracles ever was that Jeremiah Whipple made it to a car show without any problems! He finally got his car tuned and successfully pulled some nice numbers. In the passenger seat was the homie Ascoe who came up for the show like always, and it was nothing but another great time hanging & catching up.

Joey walked over and chopped it up with them. Pretty sure he was glad Jer made it too.

It’s been a while since Mikey’s DC5 ITR was last featured on here. Last time he had the gold RG1’s, but had to get rid of them due to the age. Went back to the OG Mag Blue TE’s with fresh tires [burnt the shit out of his last set doing his annual Birthday burnout] and a much proper ride height. Also featured on the passenger seat was our ABG homegirl Metree Ngeth prepping herself to become the star of the show [since there weren’t any models this time 😒].

Alex Thach attended last minute to represent Rich Tuned with his EM1 on OG Regamaster EVO’s. The bro Big Ben from Backyard Boogie helped Alex paint & put together his new front end including a J Blood bumper and J’s Racing fenders.

A nice & simple RX-7 FD3S owned by Matt Gobillot from Canada. He took some hardware home.

I was stoked that some of the Serial Nine guys came down. Kevin Petersen drifts hard in his bright SXE10 Altezza on custom Chopper Blades. Need to see this on the track one time.

Ryan B at DODOlogic seemed a bit tired during roll in, but his Vertex edition JZS161 Aristo on Work Wheels was fire! Apparently he gets down on the track too 👌🏼

Carlos Garcia from the east pulled up with his EG3 hatch modded with a Sergeant bumper, First Molding lip, Bronze RE30’s, Spoon brakes, and the super rare yellow interior.

A super clean Datsun 510 on legit Watanabe wheels owned by Jeremiah Whitaker. I believe his car has an SR20 swap as well. He won 1st Place Best Datsun.

I really liked this K-powered Passion Orange EK SiR sedan from Canada. It reminded me of those dudes in Philippines that can put together proper Hondas. Didn’t get the chance to meet the owner though. I remember very few people ran that exhaust, yet I forgot the name of it. Looks pretty cool though.

A good example of a perfect R32 is this one on SSR Professor SP4 wheels and Endless Brakes. So good!

This LX450 owned by Final Finish was a real crowd pleaser. It came in towards the end of roll in featuring an LS swap, custom stitched interior, and TE37XT wheels. They took home 1st Place Best SUV/Truck.

Rest of my roll in coverage:

That wraps up Part 1 of my coverage. Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for the Part 2 & the vlog!
